Senators discussed the development of the agricultural sector

Deputies of the Committee of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Agrarian Issues, Environmental Management and Rural Development met with the leadership of the Ministry of Agriculture, heads of its structural divisions, representatives of the regions, as well as experts in the agricultural sector. The participants of the meeting discussed the issues of reforms in the agricultural sector, provided for in the Address of the Head of State.

Opening the meeting, Chairman of the Senate Committee Ali Bektayev noted that President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev at an expanded meeting of the Government focused on the importance of increasing allocated funds, preferential loans, upgrading equipment and a number of other measures for the development of agriculture in our country.

"The Head of State set specific tasks for the large-scale reform of the agro-industrial complex. Thus, in order to solve problems in this industry, it was indicated that at least 450 billion tenge would be allocated annually to preferential leasing, agricultural machinery would be updated by 10 percent, preferential loans for spring field campaigns and autumn fees would increase to 1.5 trillion tenge and the share of processed products in the agro-industrial sector would increase by 70 percent over three years. In general, the development of the agro-industrial complex will diversify the economy, improve the quality of life and well-being of the population," Ali Bektayev said.

In turn, Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov spoke about the key factors hindering the development of the industry, noting that new approaches and tasks set for the industry by the Head of State formed the basis for the updated Concept of the development of the agro-industrial complex for 2021-2030. Key growth factors have been identified and indicators have been developed and brought to the akimats of the regions for each of them, taking into account natural and climatic, production factors and product sales opportunities.

In addition, the meeting participants discussed business issues, the development of science and the potential of the credit corporation in the agro-industrial complex.
