Senate Chair Dariga Nazarbayeva met Hans Kluge, Director of the World Health Organization’s Regional Office for Europe.
The event was attended by deputies of the Senate of the Parliament, Director of the WHO Global TB Program Geneva Teresa Kasaeva, Coordinator for Strategic Relations with Countries of the WHO Regional Office for Europe Bakhtygul Kariyeva, acting WHO Resident Representative in Kazakhstan Caroline Clarinval and Minister of Health Yelzhan Birtanov.
At the meeting, the participants discussed some promising areas in implementing state policy on the protection and promotion of maternal and child health, HIV/AIDS prevention and control, improvement of the sanitary service and social support for families.
The Senate Speaker expressed her gratitude to H. Kluge for WHO support in promoting the Astana Declaration on Primary Health Care. According to the President of the Chamber, an effective and sustainable primary healthcare system is the basis of universal healthcare coverage.
In the course of the conversation, Hans Kluge expressed his appreciation to Kazakhstan for all the necessary measures taken to prevent the spread of coronavirus.
Dariga Nazarbayeva told WHO representatives about the Code On the Health of the People and the Healthcare System, which is under development and will focus on raising the joint responsibility of the state, employers and people for the health of citizens and the development of digital health.
