An extended meeting of the Senate Committee for Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship was held in a videoconference format to review the draft laws on digital technologies regulation and consumers’ rights protection.
The draft Law On Amendements to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Digital Technologies Regulation was developed for the purpose of implementation of President Tokayev’s Address of 2 September 2019.
The document is aimed to create favorable conditions for the population through the use of digital technologies as well as to ensure and strengthen protection of the citizens’ personal data. For this purpose, the relevant authorized body and its main functions will be determined.
It also provides for the creation of conditions for the implementation of projects in the field of information and communication infrastructure and a mechanism for the safe operation of unmanned aerial vehicles and an increase in the use of robots in the country.
During the meeting the Senators also discussed the darft Law On Amendments to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Comnsumers’ Rights Protection.
The main goals of the document are further improvement of legal relations in the field of consumers’ riughts protection, strengthening the role and status of the institute of pre-trial reguilation of consumer disputes as well as strengthening of social and financial responsibility of business to consumers.
The document will allow to establish the Interdepartmental Board for the Protection of Consumer’s Rights under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and generate the Unified Information System in this field.
As a result of the discussion, the documents were submitted to the Chamber for consideration.
