Senator discussed the scientific development issues with the scientists

Senate Deputy Bakytzhan Zhumagulov visited the dendrological park of A. Bukeikhan Kazakh Research Institute of Forestry and Agroforestry (KRIFA).

During his acquaintance with the activities of the scientific center located in the northern part of Shchuchinsk on the shore of the namesake lake, the senator paid attention to the species diversity of the collections of invasive plants, where more than 600 plant species from Europe, Siberia, North America, the Far East, Japan, China, Korea and Central Asia are presented.  General Director of KRIFA Alimzhan Rakhimzhanov and head of selection department Yana Krekova informed Bakytzhan Zhumagulov about the activity and key objectives of the dendrological park.  

The Institute is engaged in the preservation and enhancement of forest flora, provision of new opportunities for the use of forest plantations in human life. The scientific research is aimed to study the forest resources of Kazakhstan, including regions of ecological disaster, agroforestry and greenery planting.

According to the scientists, the most valuable plant reserves presented in the dendrological park are not only a platform for scientific research, creation of exhibitions and biodiversity preservation, but also serve as an important source to enrich the range of technical, food, medicinal and ornamental plants used in forestry, gardening and other industries.

During the visit, the senator discussed issues related to the activities of the Research Institute, which is a part of the National Agricultural Research and Education Center, specializing in such areas as research in the field of forestry and agroforestry; development of scientific foundations of forestry; training of scientific personnel; scientific support of innovative technologies and their manufacturing application etc.

At the meeting, the senator also raised issues of greenery planting in the metropolitan area and the largest cities of the country, the development of forest science, modernization of the infrastructure of research institutes and the role of scientists in solving environmental problems arising in Kazakhstan.
