As part of the preparation for the Parliamentary hearings on the topic "Current problems and prospects for the development of agriculture", the deputies of the Senate Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management and Rural Development Duysengazy Mussin and Mukhtar Dzhumagaziev visited Kazakh Veterinary Research Institute and the Research Institute of Biological Safety Problems on issues of veterinary and biological safety and development of veterinary services in Kazakhstan.
During the visit, Senator Mukhtar Dzhumagaziev noted the important role of veterinary medicine in the development of animal husbandry in the country.
"It is necessary to pay more attention to the development of the veterinary service, scientific and personnel support of domestic veterinary medicine and ensuring the stable well-being of livestock farms in the country, as well as the safety of livestock products," Mukhtar Dzhumagaziev said.
The parliamentarians were told in detail about the institute and its role in scientific support to ensure the veterinary welfare of animal husbandry in Kazakhstan. Moreover, the senators got acquainted with the strategy of the expected results of research and theoretical foundations, diagnosis, prevention and treatment of infectious, invasive and non-infectious animal diseases.
The deputies also visited the laboratories of the Institute of Bacteriology and Virology, where research is being conducted on the development of domestic drugs to ensure food safety and new methods are being developed to assess the quality and control of veterinary and sanitary safety of livestock products and feed.
In addition, the senators got acquainted with the activities of the Research Institute of Biosafety problems in the field of molecular biology and genetic engineering of viruses, bacteria and fungi, as well as with the work of the plant for the production of vaccines against particularly dangerous infectious diseases.
Summing up the trip, the senators noted the significant role of modern veterinary science in expanding the export of a significant part of the agricultural products of the countries. The deputies stressed the need for consistent work in personnel training, salary increases and digitalization of existing processes.
