Senators considered ratification of the Treaty between Kazakhstan and Mongolia on transfer of convicted persons

The draft Law “On ratification of the Treaty between the Republic of Kazakhstan and Mongolia on transfer of convicted persons” was considered at the enlarged meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, Judicial System and Law Enforcement Agencies.

The Treaty was signed in Astana on March 29, 2018.

The main objective of the project is the implementation of cooperation between Kazakhstan and Mongolia in the field of transfer of convicted persons on the terms set out in the Treaty, the reintegration of convicted persons in the public environment of their state.

The Treaty is aimed at strengthening legal cooperation in criminal relations between Kazakhstan and Mongolia.

According to the Agreement, with the written consent of the convicted person, and if at the time of receipt of the request for transfer, the sentence imposed on the convicted person has entered into legal force and the period of time to be served by the convicted person is not less than one year, the transfer of the convicted person for further serving the sentence of deprivation of liberty at home may be carried out.

“In Kazakhstan, 5 citizens of Mongolia are serving a sentence of imprisonment. There are no Kazakh citizens serving a sentence of imprisonment in Mongolia,” Senator S. Yensegenov said.
