Maulen Ashimbayev met with Tim Vandenput, the Chairman of the Belgium-Kazakhstan Friendship Group

Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament Maulen Ashimbaev met with a delegation of deputies of the Belgian Parliament headed by the Chairman of the Friendship Group "Belgium-Kazakhstan" Tim Vandenput. The parties discussed the prospects for further strengthening bilateral cooperation and inter-parliamentary interaction.

Welcoming the Belgian parliamentarians, Maulen Ashimbaev noted that Belgium is an important political and economic partner of Kazakhstan in the European Union. The Chairman of the Senate stressed the need to strengthen interaction at the inter-parliamentary level, including within the framework of international organizations.

“We are interested in the dynamic development of inter-parliamentary relations. Friendship groups are successfully operating in the Parliaments of both countries. They are an important mechanism for developing our cooperation. Kazakh deputies are also interested in interacting with their Belgian counterparts at the venues of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the Inter-Parliamentary Union,” Maulen Ashimbaev said.

The Chairman of the Senate also informed the Belgian colleagues in detail about the reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan at the initiative of the Head of State. In addition, the parties also discussed a wide range of international and regional agendas.

In turn, Tim Vandenput noted the effectiveness of the ongoing political transformation in Kazakhstan, as well as the cooperation of our country with international organizations. The parliamentarian expressed Belgium's interest in the development of investment and transport and logistics projects, as well as in strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation.
