Senate Speaker met with foreign judges

Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament Maulen Ashimbaev met with the Chairmen of the Constitutional Courts of foreign countries who arrived in Kazakhstan to participate in the International Conference “Constitutional Justice: Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All.”

At the beginning of the conversation, Maulen Ashimbaev thanked the meeting participants for the constructive exchange of views on issues of constitutional control, which took place the day before within the framework of the international conference. The speaker noted the social significance of the Constitutional Court, which was created on the initiative of the President of the country.

“The Constitutional Court is not only an important institution for protecting the rights of citizens, but also an instrument for monitoring legislation for compliance with the Constitution of the country. We see great potential for joint work in this. We are also interested in foreign experience of interaction between the Constitutional Court and legislative bodies,” Maulen Ashimbaev noted.

The Chairman of the Senate also familiarized the judges with the legislative activities of the Chamber, the focus of which is aimed at the high-quality implementation of the reforms of the Head of State set out in the Address to the People.

In addition, during the meeting the parties discussed the main directions and priorities in the field of constitutional justice in different countries. In particular, the judges paid special attention to international practice of ensuring human rights as an important element of democracy.

The event was also attended by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan Elvira Azimova, the leadership and deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
