30 days without temporary registration: The Senate is considering a law on the stay of citizens of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan in the territories of the two countries

21.02.2024 26

At an expanded meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, the Judiciary and Law Enforcement Agencies, deputies discussed the law on amendments to the Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan on the conditions of mutual travel of citizens.

The purpose of the law is to create a legal basis for the further development of friendly relations between the two countries, the regulation of travel of their citizens, as well as the creation of favorable conditions for the stay of people of one state on the territory of another.

The document provides for a simplified procedure for the stay of citizens of the parties in their territories without registration with the competent authorities, if the period of their stay does not exceed 30 days from the moment of crossing the border. Thus, both States have increased the mutual period of stay of citizens in their territories from 5 to 30 days without temporary registration.

According to the senators, the ratification of the Protocol and its implementation will not entail negative socio-economic and legal consequences, as well as will not require additional financial costs from the state budget.

Following the results of the extended meeting, the deputies decided to send the law "On ratification of the Protocol on Amendments to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the conditions of mutual travel of citizens dated July 7, 2000" to the Chamber for consideration.
