The Speaker of the Senate met with the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders

The Chairman of the Senate, Maulen Ashimbayev, held a meeting with the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Mohammed Abdelsalam, during which the parties discussed prospects for cooperation to further promote global interreligious and intercivilizational dialogue.

The Speaker of the Senate, welcoming the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders, noted the significant contribution of the Organization in promoting the ideas of peace, unity and religious tolerance in the international arena over the past 10 years of its existence.

During the meeting, it was noted that the mission of the Council coincides with the principles of the Kazakhstan Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. Therefore, the recent opening of the representative office of the Muslim Council of Elders in the Central Asian region, according to Maulen Ashimbayev, is a landmark event and is important for Kazakhstan.

Chairman of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Maulen Ashimbayev informed the interlocutor about the plans of the Secretariat in accordance with the adopted Concept of the Congress and expressed interest in strengthening ties with the Muslim Council of Elders, as well as developing the potential of spiritual diplomacy for peaceful conflict resolution and overcoming urgent challenges.

"President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has repeatedly stressed that a global movement calling for peace is necessary to create a new system of international security. The Muslim Council of Elders actively seeks to strengthen the dialogue of all religions. We welcome the cooperation between the Muslim Council of Elders and the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions to use the potential of religious leaders in solving urgent problems at the global level. We hope that through joint efforts we will contribute to strengthening interfaith and intercivilizational dialogue," said Maulen Ashimbayev.

In turn, Mohammed Abdelsalam highly appreciated the work carried out by Kazakhstan to promote values such as tolerance and harmony. He also expressed gratitude for the active interaction with the Council within the framework of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and indicated readiness to deepen cooperation.
