Deputies of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Defense and Security held a visiting meeting in Almaty, where they discussed issues of military education in the field of information security within the framework of the Cyber Shield concept.
Opening the meeting, Committee Secretary Darkhan Kydyrali noted that the rapid development of information and communication technologies and trends in global digitalization require actions to protect the relevant infrastructure. Failure to comply with protective measures for information security can lead to negative consequences and poses a direct threat to the security of the country.
"The modern world has witnessed the rapid development of technology, which has led to an increase in cybersecurity threats. Cyber attacks are becoming more intelligent and sophisticated, which requires us to constantly improve our skills and knowledge. Military education plays an important role in this process, as it not only equips specialists with knowledge, but also creates a unique perspective in which they can quickly respond to threats and take effective measures to prevent them," Darkhan Kydyrali said.
A representative of the Military Engineering Institute of Radio Electronics and Communications spoke about the work on training cadets in information security skills, technical protection of information, organization and implementation of encrypted communications, covert command of troops, secrecy and secret record keeping. It was noted that a network security training laboratory has been created on the basis of the department, which allows modeling current types of information security threats, practicing practical actions to prevent them, identify vulnerabilities and protect against network attacks.
At the same time, the Senate deputies noted that it is especially important for government agencies and critical infrastructure facilities to ensure a high level of cyber defense, and also discussed the problems of providing personnel to the Armed Forces in this area.
In addition, representatives of the Ministries of Defense, Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, the National Security Committee and the Kazakh-British Technical University also took part in the meeting.
