Deputies of the Senate Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development and Entrepreneurship visited the city of Zhezkazgan. The participants discussed the implementation of the Ulytau Region Development Plan for 2021–2025, the development of the industrial and energy potential of the region, support for entrepreneurship, and the improvement of the regulatory framework to create a favorable investment climate.
In his welcoming speech, the Chairman of the Committee Suyindik Aldashev noted that for the successful development of the Ulytau region, it is necessary to pay special attention to increasing the efficiency of using the region's natural and infrastructural resources. He emphasized that Ulytau has significant industrial potential, but its implementation is possible only with the active support of entrepreneurship, the introduction of modern technologies and the provision of a sustainable energy base.
"The Ulytau region has unique opportunities for industrial growth, but it is important that the development of the region is accompanied by systemic support for small and medium-sized businesses, modernization of infrastructure and training of specialists. Only under these conditions can a sustainable economic effect be achieved and the quality of life of the region's residents be improved," the senator said.
In turn, the representative of the regional department of entrepreneurship and industry informed about the key economic indicators of the region. According to the results of last year, the growth of the gross regional product was 7.7%, and the GRP per capita is one of the highest in the country. It was noted that in 2024 alone, nine investment projects were implemented, more than 200 jobs were created, and by the end of the year, it is planned to launch 17 more projects. In addition, special attention is paid to the development of entrepreneurship: over 350 business projects have been supported, the share of SMEs in the economy has increased, new trade and service facilities have been created.
