Speaker of the Senate met with the Secretary General of the Muslim World League

Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions Maulen Ashimbayev met with the Secretary General of the Muslim World League Sheikh Mohammed Abdulkarim al-Issa, who arrived in Kazakhstan to participate in the VIII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

Welcoming Mohammed Abdulkarim al-Issa, Maulen Ashimbayev highly praised the League's efforts in promoting the ideas of tolerance, mutual respect, and interreligious harmony, as well as its contribution to achieving the goals of the Congress over many years. He also stressed the importance of the initiative of the MWL Secretary General – the international platform «Building Bridges between East and West», and expressed support for its implementation.

«The country's President Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev pays special attention to the formation of a strong system of international security. In this regard, we attach great importance to interaction with the Muslim World League. Our ties have significantly intensified and strengthened in recent years. Today, the Muslim World League is doing a great deal of work to strengthen the cohesion of the Muslim community, promote common spiritual values, and education. We also hope for fruitful cooperation between the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of Kazakhstan and the Muslim World League», – said Maulen Ashimbayev.

At the same time, the Head of the Secretariat of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions thanked the guest for accepting the invitation to the Congress and stressed that the Muslim World League and the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions have similar goals, a common mission, and priorities. In this regard, special attention was paid to the value of the Makkah Declaration, which condemns any manifestations of discrimination based on religion, race, and creed. The document calls on the world to take joint action against intolerance and hatred.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the pressing challenges of our time and exchanged proposals for overcoming them, as well as for strengthening further cooperation in other areas. This included discussion of current and upcoming joint projects concerning the expansion of contacts in the spheres of science and education, digitalization, and other industries.

The Secretary General of the Muslim World League, Sheikh Mohammed Abdulkarim al-Issa, in turn, thanked the Head of the Secretariat of the Congress for the invitation and noted the importance of holding the forum for the international community. He also expressed interest in combining joint efforts to overcome the common problems of our time.
