An expanded meeting of the Senate Committee on constitutional legislation, the judicial system and law enforcement agencies was held in the Senate. During the meeting, two laws were considered: «On the ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of Turkmenistan on cooperation in combating crime» and «On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on intellectual property».
The ratification of the Agreement is aimed at strengthening the cooperation of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan in the sphere of combating transnational crime, exchanging information, and conducting joint activities. The implementation of the document will increase the efficiency of interaction between competent authorities and strengthen the legal foundations of international partnership.
The law on intellectual property, in turn, is aimed at improving the system of protection of copyright and related rights, introducing digital tools for collective management, as well as increasing the transparency of remuneration distribution mechanisms. The adoption of the initiative will create favorable conditions for the development of the creative industry, strengthen the protection of the rights of rights holders, and increase the investment attractiveness of Kazakhstan in the sphere of intellectual property.
Following the meeting, the Committee members decided to send the Laws for consideration by the Chamber.
