17.02.2026 175

The Senate held a working meeting between members of the Committee on Economic Policy, Innovative Development, and Entrepreneurship and representatives of authorized government agencies, the quasi-public sector, and the business community on the topic of "Developing the Transit Potential of the Republic of Kazakhstan."

Meeting participants discussed the current state and prospects for developing the country's transit potential, as well as institutional and infrastructural factors influencing the efficiency of the transport and logistics system.

"The development of the transport and logistics industry and transit potential is directly linked to the implementation of a new economic model and is of strategic importance for the country's sustainable economic development. Given the transformation of global trade and logistics chains, the development of an efficient, competitive, and technologically advanced transit system that balances the interests of the state, business, and the national economy is particularly urgent," noted Committee Chairman Suindik Aldashev.

Vice Minister of Transport Zhanibek Taizhanov delivered the keynote address, informing participants about the current state and dynamics of transit traffic, as well as ongoing infrastructure projects and priority areas for the development of the transport industry. It was noted that Kazakhstan has significant potential for increasing transit freight flows between China, Europe, Russia, and Asian countries.

During the meeting, issues related to the development of railway infrastructure, increasing the capacity of the main network, digitalization of logistics processes, and the institutional conditions for the functioning of the transit transportation market were discussed. Participants emphasized the need to ensure a balance of interests between the state, national companies, and the private sector when formulating long-term transport policy.

Representatives of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs and JSC National Company Kazakhstan Temir Zholy also expressed their views, focusing on improving the operational efficiency of the industry, management transparency, and attracting investment.
