At an extended meeting of the Senate Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management, and Rural Development, the Law "On Ratification of the Agreement on Cooperation between the CIS Member States in the Exchange of Radiation Monitoring Data" was considered.
As noted, the document aims to develop cooperation between the CIS member states in the area of nuclear and radiation safety. The Agreement provides for the exchange, analysis, and forecasting of radiation monitoring data, as well as the development of mechanisms for operational information exchange between the authorized bodies of the parties.
As part of the Agreement's implementation, the parties will ensure the systematic exchange of monitoring data, the reliability of the information transmitted, timely notification in the event of impossibility of transmission due to unforeseen circumstances, and the use of the information obtained exclusively within the framework of this international document.
The Agreement applies only to data from the state radiation monitoring system and does not affect radiation monitoring data from nuclear facilities. Furthermore, it provides for the development of a unified data exchange procedure, which will be approved by the Commission of the CIS Member States on the Peaceful Uses of Atomic Energy. This procedure will determine the list of information to be transferred, its formats, archiving periods, and the regulations for interaction between authorized bodies.
