26.11.2020 59

Deputy of the Senate Murat Baktiyaruly attended the session of the Permanent Commission of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Social Policy and Human Rights.

One of the key issues of the session concerned the measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19. In particular, the draft Joint Statement of the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS and the European Regional Bureau of the World Health Organization “On the Role of Parliaments in Fight Against COVID-19” was reviewed.

“The Joint Statement “On the Role of Parliaments in Fight Against COVID-19” is quite appropriate and necessary as the Parliaments of our countries, the Council of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS, and also the Parliaments and Parliamentary Assemblies of other countries should cooperate and assist each other in global pandemic response”, — Murat Baktiyaruly said.

Further, the senator stated that Kazakhstan had earlier provided relevant comments and suggestions with regard to the draft document. Following the discussion, the Permanent Commission accepted all the comments made by the Kazakhstani parliamentarians.

In addition, Deputy of the Senate Nurlan Kylyshbayev attended the session of the Permanent Commission of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States on Economy and Finance.

The session concluded the third stage of development of documents to regulate various aspects of public-private partnership. Earlier the IPA CIS in cooperation with Squire Patton Boggs Company and the European Reconstruction and Development Bank had already developed a model law “On Public-Private Partnership” and proceeded with drafting of relevant practical Recommendations for enhancement and application of public-private partnership mechanisms in the Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Besides, Senator Dinar Nuketayeva attended the session of the Permanent Commission of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Member Nations of the CIS on Culture, Information, Tourism, and Sport.

The issues concerning the development of draft Recommendations for cooperation of Member Nations of the CIS in digital development and the Recommendations for setting common approach to provision of a mandatory original copy of a print publication in electronic format in the Member Nations of the Commonwealth of Independent States, as well as other issues of the Permanent Commission were discussed in the course of the session.
