Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was familiarized with the work plans of the Senate of the Parliament during the VII Session. During the meeting, special attention was paid to a package of draft laws aimed at implementing the President's Message and instructions.
The Chairman of the upper House of Parliament said that during the upcoming session, senators, together with the Government and deputies of the Mazhilis, will work on changing the electoral legislation in terms of fixing a 30% quota for women and youth. It is also expected to adopt the Social Code, the laws "On Industrial Policy", "On professional qualifications", and "On personal subsidiary farms".
According to Maulen Ashimbayev, the deputies of the Senate have prepared a number of initiative bills aimed at fulfilling the instructions of the Head of State. Among them there are amendments to the Tax Code and legislation on science, the draft law "On the Ombudsman". In addition, a number of changes are being prepared related to improving the regulation of pasture management and use.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted the need for broad involvement of civil society and experts in the process of discussing and working out all the norms of the adopted draft laws within the framework of the implementation of the concept of a "hearing state".
At the end of the meeting, the President set a number of tasks related to the further realization of the potential of parliamentary diplomacy.
The Head of State also instructed to start preparations for the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in 2022.
