The development of protected areas is discussed in the Senate

Deputies of the Senate Committee on Agrarian Issues, Nature Management and Rural Development held a meeting with the top officials of the Ministry of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources to discuss issues of the development of protected areas in Kazakhstan.

In his opening remarks, Chairman of the Senate Committee Ali Bektayev noted that the development of protected areas is an important area of work in our country. He emphasized that special environmental objects and scientific and cultural values are the national treasure of Kazakhstan.

“Such places are of special importance for the conservation of biological and landscape diversity. Meanwhile, the creation, expansion, protection, restoration of sustainable protected areas and objects of state nature reserves have a particular ecological, scientific, historical, cultural and recreational value, and are part of the national, regional and world significance,” Senator Ali Bektayev said.

Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Serikkali Brekeshev noted in his report that they have been doing a lot of work to improve the infrastructure of parks and reserves. This also enables the development of ecotourism, the creation of ecotourism brands in the network of national parks of the country and enhancing the qualification of protected areas to serve and educate visitors.

At the meeting, participants discussed the provision of skilled staff personnel and material and technical equipment, as well as the allocation of additional funds for the development of infrastructure of national parks with the aim of developing domestic tourism.
