At that, the Senate Speaker stressed the importance of further strengthening of integration of Turkic-speaking countries in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian directions.

Maulen Ashimbayev recalled the words of Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev during the non-formal summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States that our goal is to make the Turkic world one of the most significant economic, cultural and humanitarian regions of the XXI century.

“Nowadays, it is important to develop economic cooperation. By doing so, we can strengthen our ties and improve the welfare of people in the whole Turkic space. At the same time, we should attach special attention to the development of our spiritual unity,” Maulen Ashimbayev said.

It was noted at the meeting that, during the early Middle Ages, the Turkic states were the most important world center of education and science. Today, the countries of the Turkic world have an urgent task to make every effort to reach such a height again. The Senate Chairman emphasized that the International Turkic Academy is successfully working in this direction.

The year 2021 is a milestone year for many countries of the Turkic world. This year marked the anniversaries of such Turkic classic poets as the 880th anniversary of Nizami Ganjavi, the 580th anniversary of Alisher Navoiy, the 700th anniversary since the death of Yunus Emre, as well as the 175th anniversary since the birth of the great zhyrau Zhambyl Zhabayev. In this connection, the Academy initiated the release of collections of works by some of these authors in several languages. A book of poems by Yunus Emre was published in Kazakh for the first time.

Also, in this anniversary year, the 1,000-year-old Quran translated into the ancient Turkic language was reissued.

Maulen Ashimbaev thanked the translators of the books for their great work and stressed the significance of continuing work in this regard.

“In many ways, the world perceives the spiritual potential of the Turkic peoples through our great figures, their writings, and works. The heritage of our great thinkers, poets, scientists has creative power and serves as a golden bridge that connects the Turkic peoples. That is why we should publish, translate and study their heritage,” Maulen Ashimbayev noted.

The books, presented today, are aimed at enhancing the unity of Turkic-speaking countries and will also contribute to the rebirth of national consciousness, the Senate Speaker said to conclude his speech.

The event was also attended by statesmen and public figures, heads of diplomatic missions, prominent scientists, and intellectuals from Kazakhstan and other Turkic countries.
