Senator Kul-Muhammed: There is a need to eliminate unlawful actions of servicemen in the army

The deputies of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Defense and Security held a roundtable on "The prevention and elimination of irretrievable losses in the army in light of the implementation of the instructions of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the preservation of life and health of military personnel.

Opening the round table, Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed, Chairman of the Committee noted that the Head of State drew attention to the increasing number of deaths of servicemen in the Kazakh army.

In this regard, the Senator stressed the importance of strengthening control over the current situation and intensifying joint efforts to solve the existing problems of servicemen.

"It is necessary to investigate the causes of these incidents, as well as to eliminate unlawful actions of servicemen in the army. It is necessary to take measures, including at the legislative level, in order to prevent such negative phenomena in the future," Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed said.

Another problem was voiced during the meeting by Senator Sergei Ershov. According to the Deputy, there is an outflow of contract servicemen from the Armed Forces of the country, the number of contract servicemen in the Armed Forces is about 70% of the total number. The Senator believes that among the reasons for this situation is the lack of adequate social support and low wages.

"I consider it necessary to increase the level of social security of military personnel, including taking into account the risks of an unstable geopolitical situation in the world and increase human resources. September 1, 2019 at a joint session of the Houses of Parliament, the Head of State in his speech stressed that the prestige of military service, the material equipment of the Armed Forces, staffing with professionally trained, dedicated to the Motherland officers and servicemen,"- said Senator Ershov.

The country's Chief Military Prosecutor Dastan Sekenov, Vice Minister of Defense Sultan Kamaletdinov, Vice Minister of Health Beibut Yessenbayev and others also made proposals to improve the situation in the Armed Forces.
