Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Olga Perepechina met with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Iulian Fota.
In her welcoming remarks, Olga Perepecina noted that Romania is an important partner of Kazakhstan, stressing that Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pays special attention to strengthening mutually beneficial relations between Astana and Bucharest.
"We consider it necessary to support and promote the agenda of mutually beneficial cooperation through the Parliaments of our countries as well. In the Senate and the Mazhilis there are groups on cooperation with Romania. We are also interested in establishing working contacts with our Romanian colleagues at International Parliamentary Platforms, including the Parliamentary Assembly of the OSCE, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe and the Inter-Parliamentary Union," the Vice-Speaker noted.
In addition, Olga Perepechina told the guest about the upcoming elections of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which take place in the context of major domestic political reforms.
In turn, Iulian Fota said that Romania appreciates the cooperation with Kazakhstan, and is ready to actively contribute to strengthening bilateral relations.
