Chairman of the Senate Committee on Social-Cultural Development and Science Nurtore Zhusip met with the observers of the Mission of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking Countries.

During the meeting, which was also attended by senators Bibigul Zheksenbay, Ruslan Rustemov and Nurlan Bekenov, it was noted that Kazakhstan, as a country that contributed to the creation and development of TurkPA, attaches great importance to inter-parliamentary cooperation within this organization.

International observers were fully informed about the key aspects of the ongoing reform initiated by the Head of State.

“Elections to the Mazhilis of the Parliament and maslikhats will be held according to a new mixed system. 70 percent of the deputies of the Mazhilis will be formed according to the proportional system, and 30 percent - according to the majoritarian system. That is, parties are fighting for 69 seats, and single-members are fighting for 29 seats. This allows the election of members of various social groups and political parties and ensures the representative function of parliament. It should be noted that the elections of the Mazhilis deputies will be held against the backdrop of large-scale internal political changes,” Nurtore Zhusip said.

From the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic-speaking countries, the meeting was attended by deputies of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Recep Sheker, Shenel Yediyildiz and Yuksel Ozkan, deputy of the Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan Hikmet Mammadov, Secretary General of the TurkPA Mehmet Sureya Er.
