Speaker of the Senate Maulen Ashimbayev with a group of deputies arrived in the Russian Federation on an official visit, during which he met with the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko. Both Speakers also took part in the opening session of the Commission on Cooperation between the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and signed the "Road Map" for the development of cooperation between the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for 2023-2025.
"Relations between Kazakhstan and Russia demonstrate an example of successful and effective bilateral cooperation. Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia is based on strong ties of friendship and good neighborliness, centuries-old historical ties, respect for the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of our states," said Maulen Ashimbaev during the meeting.
Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko paid special attention to the high level of cooperation between the two states, an important instrument of which is the Commission on Cooperation between the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia. Valentina Matviyenko also emphasized the importance of large-scale political and economic reforms carried out in Kazakhstan at the initiative of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and emphasized the importance of progressive development of relations between the two states.
"Russia and Kazakhstan are true equal allies. We have a lot in common. We are closely following the development of Kazakhstan. Maulen Ashimbaev informed Valentina Matviyenko that last year Kazakhstan adopted a law on agglomerations, serious attention is paid to the modernization of engineering infrastructure at this stage.
A special road map for the development of interparliamentary cooperation between the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan and the Federation Council of the Russian Federation should give a significant impetus to the further strengthening of cooperation. The document is designed for the next 3 years, its main task is to strengthen the applied component of the cooperation of the Parliaments with an emphasis on concrete and tangible results of the activity.
At the same time, Maulen Ashimbayev and Valentina Matviyenko took part in the meeting of the Commission on cooperation between the Senate, the Parliament and the Federation Council. Opening the meeting, Maulen Ashimbaev noted the symbolism of the meeting of the senators of Kazakhstan and Russia on April 12 - Cosmonautics Day, emphasizing that 62 years ago it was from Kazakh soil that Yuri Gagarin embarked on his historic flight into space. The Speaker of the Senate noted that today our countries are united by the space port - the Baikonur complex. According to the Speaker of the Senate, such a level of fruitful interaction between our countries is developing in many directions today.
In particular, Maulen Ashimbayev focused on the need to strengthen the sphere of cross-border cooperation and the importance of solving urgent issues related to transboundary water bodies.
"One of the urgent problems is the preservation of ecosystems of transboundary rivers. In the Kazakh society, great attention is paid to this issue, taking into account its acute social, economic and ecological significance for a number of our regions. In this regard, we would like to suggest that the next session of the Cooperation Commission be held this autumn in one of the border regions of Kazakhstan, through which cross-border rivers flow. We propose to consider it for these purposes. Uralsk. Thus, the senators will be able to familiarize themselves with the situation on the spot, listen to the relevant state bodies, and work out joint proposals," Maulen Ashimbaev noted.
In addition, the delegation of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan visited the Cathedral Mosque of Moscow, where they discussed with its leadership the role of religious leaders in promoting high spiritual and moral values in modern society. In this regard, the contribution of the Congress of leaders of world and traditional religions to the development of interreligious dialogue, to the strengthening of peace and harmony between nations was noted.
As part of the first day of the official visit, Kazakh senators also took part in the ceremony of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
