Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament Maulen Ashimbaev met with a delegation of deputies of the Senate of the National Congress of the Federative Republic of Brazil - members of the Brazil-Kazakhstan friendship group. The parties discussed prospects for further strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Welcoming the meeting participants, the Chairman of the Chamber emphasized that Brazil is one of our country’s key partners in South America and focused on the importance of multifaceted cooperation between the two states.
The Speaker of the Senate named interparliamentary relations with the National Congress of Brazil as one of the key areas of interaction, the strengthening of which is given special attention.
“The President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev pays great attention to strengthening friendly and mutually beneficial relations between our countries. Active political cooperation is supported by promising economic ties. Cultural and humanitarian ties between countries are expanding. Friendship groups with Brazil have been created in both chambers of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. I am confident that this will bring new dynamics to our bilateral interaction. On the part of the Senate, we are ready to contribute to the strengthening and development of relations between our countries,” Maulen Ashimbaev said.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation. In particular, proposals were made for the implementation of joint projects considering the investment climate of the countries.
In this regard, the Speaker of the Senate introduced his colleagues to the changes that were made to the Tax Code and other reforms carried out in the country at the initiative of the Head of State and set out in the Address to the People.
The Speaker of the Senate focused specifically on issues of sustainable development and the activities of the Parliamentary Commission for monitoring the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
In turn, deputies of the National Congress of Brazil Angelo Mario Coronel de Azevedo Martins and Chico Rodriguez expressed interest in the development of multilateral relations and noted the effectiveness of the political transformation ongoing in Kazakhstan.
It should be noted that during the visit to Kazakhstan, parliamentarians also took part in the 2nd meeting of the friendship group with senators, got acquainted with the work of the International Center for Cross-Border Cooperation “Khorgos” and other objects of the Almaty region.
