Deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan held the 2nd meeting of the inter-Senate friendship group “Kazakhstan - Brazil”.

In his welcoming speech, deputy Sultanbek Makezhanov noted that Brazil is Kazakhstan’s main partner in South America. Over three decades of cooperation, thanks to work supported by meetings and contacts of senior leaders, our countries have developed significant potential for mutually beneficial cooperation.

“It is important to support and promote the agenda of mutually beneficial cooperation through the Parliaments of our countries. Today, parliamentary diplomacy is becoming an important, popular and promising format of bilateral interaction. Its uniqueness is manifested in the fact that it organically combines the features of official diplomacy and public diplomacy, since parliamentarians act as legitimate representatives of their countries, elected through democratic procedures and expressing the interests of their voters,” Sultanbek Makezhanov said.

The meeting participants also discussed issues of cooperation in the field of economics, investment, technology, as well as the implementation of joint projects in the agro-industrial, mining, metallurgical and engineering industries.

In turn, Senator Alibek Nautiev noted that investment and trade cooperation between Kazakhstan and Brazil has untapped potential and needs new initiatives.

“In Kazakhstan, with the support of the state, it is possible to produce a wide range of goods in the aircraft industry, from components to the organization of large-unit assembly. In addition, our country has access to large export markets to which manufactured products can be supplied,” Alibek Nautiev said.

At the end of the event, delegates from Brazil noted that they highly appreciate cooperation with Kazakhstan, and are also ready to actively contribute to strengthening bilateral relations.
