Senators got acquainted with the activities of the Republican Center for Space Communications

Deputies of the Senate Committee on International Relations, Defense and Security held a visiting meeting in the city of Akkol, Akmola region, where they met with the staff of the JSC «Republican Center for Space Communications».

In his welcoming speech, Chairman of the Senate Committee Andrei Lukin noted that Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, speaking at the «Digital Bridge» technology forum, set the task for the Government to complete ahead of schedule the work on covering all regional centers of our country with new generation of cellular communications by 2025.

«The president of the country has set the task of ensuring the availability of the Internet for residents of districts and villages. To achieve this goal, special attention is paid to using the capabilities of low-orbit satellite systems. In addition, if necessary, we will initiate changes to legislation. It should be noted the importance of geostationary satellites, which remain a reliable method of transmitting information, satisfying the high demands of government and corporate needs», – noted Andrey Lukin. 

Chairman of the Management Board of JSC «Republican Center for Space Communications» Malik Zhuiriktayev told about the work carried out in the field of space communications in his speech. Thus, he said that today Kazakhstan has its own space communication system of the «KazSat» series, which includes two satellites and two ground-based spacecraft control complexes – the «Akkol» and «Kokterek» space communication centers.

During the event, participants also discussed issues of overcoming the digital inequality, export of digital services, operation of existing satellites, remote sensing of the earth and others.

Summing up the results of the visiting meeting, Senator Andrei Lukin noted that taking into account the proposals voiced, the deputy corps will form recommendations for improving the industry and send them to the relevant government bodies and the Government. Parliamentarians are also ready to provide assistance in improving current legislation.
