Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament Maulen Ashimbaev met with President of the Togolese Republic Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe. During the meeting, issues of developing cooperation between the two countries and expanding inter-parliamentary interaction were discussed.
The Speaker of the Senate emphasized that the Togolese Republic is one of the important and promising partners of Kazakhstan in West Africa. He also focused on the importance of further strengthening interaction at the interparliamentary level, including within the framework of international organizations.
«An integral part of our bilateral relations is interparliamentary cooperation. We are interested in establishing a dialogue with the National Assembly of Togo. The first step in this direction could be the creation of appropriate friendship groups. Our deputies could establish contacts on international platforms, such as the Inter-Parliamentary Union and other organizations. I am confident that your visit to Kazakhstan will lay the foundation for the further development of our inter-parliamentary cooperation», – said Maulen Ashimbaev.
During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of international and regional agendas.
The Speaker of the Senate also introduced the President of the Togolese Republic to the legislative work of the Chamber aimed at implementing the reforms initiated by the Head of State.
For his part, the head of the Togolese Republic, Faure Essosimna Gnassingbe highly appreciated the reforms being carried out in Kazakhstan, expressing interest in further strengthening and expanding cooperation in all areas.
