29.11.2023 166

Deputies of the Senate Committee on Agrarian Issues, Environmental Management and Rural Development held an extended meeting on the topic: «On the state of agricultural cooperation and the expansion of farms in the regions of the country», as part of the implementation of the President’s Address to the people of Kazakhstan.

Opening the meeting, Chairman of the Committee on Agrarian Issues, Environmental Management and Rural Development Ali Bektaev outlined the main problems of agricultural cooperatives in the context of market development, noting that only large farms receive subsidies from the state, while only 3% of small farms have the opportunity to receive support.

«The most important question that villagers ask is what advantages and benefits will we get from creating cooperatives? Often, villagers cannot get clear answers to these questions and make any decisions. This is probably the reason for the small number of cooperatives actually created. We hope that during today’s meeting useful proposals and systematic reflections on these and other pressing issues will be discussed», - said Ali Bektaev.

The meeting participants discussed the problems of low competitiveness of domestic products, the requirements for a large number of documents when registering a cooperative and the need to amend the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan «On Agricultural Cooperation».

In his speech, Vice Minister of Agriculture Azat Sultanov said that the «Auyl Amanaty» project is currently being implemented to increase the income of the rural population. In each rural district it is planned to create agricultural cooperatives engaged in production, processing, sales, storage, supply of production equipment and material and technical resources.

In addition, representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Integration, the management of JSC «Agrarian Credit Corporation» and the heads of the agricultural departments of the Mangistau, Turkestan regions and the Abay region took part in the extended meeting.
