Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament Olga Perepechina took part in the II Global Forum of Interparliamentary Cooperation in the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals.
Together with colleagues from other countries, the Vice-Speaker of the Senate discussed the role of Parliament and inter-parliamentary cooperation in promoting the effective implementation of the Global Agenda 2030, as well as issues of empowering women in parliamentary processes, further strengthening the partnership between Parliament and civil society in achieving national goals and challenges in the field of sustainable development.
The forum was also attended by political and public figures, leading international experts from foreign countries in the field of sustainable development, as well as representatives of international non-governmental organizations and youth parliaments.
At the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, held in September this year, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Kemelevich Tokayev noted that for Kazakhstan, achieving the Goals is a national priority.
On behalf of the Head of State, in June of this year, a Parliamentary Commission was created to monitor the implementation of national goals and objectives in the field of sustainable development. The commission consists of 18 deputies from the two chambers of Parliament. The Commission is headed by the Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament Ashimbaev Maulen Sagatkhanovich.
