At the last meeting of the Senate Bureau, deputies determined the agenda for the meeting of the Chamber, which will take place on December 7.

At the upcoming meeting of the Chamber, the Law «On the ratification of the Optional Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child on the communications procedure» will be considered. In accordance with the Protocol, mechanisms are established for considering complaints from children or their parents (legal representatives) when the rights enshrined in the Convention on the Rights of the Child are violated. Based on the results, recommendations are transferred to the state for taking appropriate measures.

Deputies will also consider the Law «On the ratification of the Protocol on amendments to the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Russian Federation on trade and economic cooperation in the field of supplies of oil and petroleum products to the Republic of Kazakhstan dated December 9, 2010», aimed at developing trade and economic cooperation in relevant area.

At the Bureau meeting, the progress of preparations for parliamentary hearings on improving the civil protection system was also discussed. As part of it, senators of the Committee on International Relations, Defense and Security will also take part in exercises to extinguish fires in high-rise buildings, which will be held in Astana.

As noted by Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbaev, despite the measures taken by the state, unfortunately, there are still a number of unresolved issues in this direction.

«In recent years, the state has given priority attention to improving the civil protection system. A lot of work is also being carried out by the relevant Committee of the Senate of the Parliament. However, problems in this area are still relevant. The fire that occurred last week in Almaty and claimed the lives of 13 people is a tragedy for all of us. We sincerely condole with the families and friends of all those killed and injured. We must make every effort to ensure that such tragedies do not happen again», –  said Maulen Ashimbaev, addressing the meeting participants.

Also, laws received from the Mazhilis of Parliament were distributed among the permanent Committees of the Senate.
