The 24th meeting of the Commission on Cooperation between the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation was held today in the city of Ust-Kamenogorsk, East Kazakhstan region.
The Commission is co-chaired by Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, Zhakip Assanov, and First Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of Russia, Andrey Yatskin.
The agenda included key issues of bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector: simplifying border crossing conditions for citizens of the two countries, increasing transport accessibility to tourist sites, and developing joint tourism programs. Special attention was paid to the formation of new routes.
«Tourism is one of the most promising sectors, capable of bringing tangible economic results, creating jobs, and expanding cultural and humanitarian contacts. The current Agreement on Cooperation in the field of tourism between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Russia creates a solid foundation for the formation of joint routes, infrastructure development, and personnel training. Purposeful discussion will allow us to fully immerse ourselves in the topic, delve into existing problems in detail, and develop concrete, effective ways to solve them», - said Deputy Chairman Zhakip Assanov.
An important part of the program was the participation of the senators in the International Investment Forum «Altai Invest - 2025». The potential of East Kazakhstan in the fields of industry, agriculture, energy, and tourism was presented here. The combination of parliamentary dialogue and the economic agenda underscored that politics and investment go hand-in-hand, creating new opportunities for regional development.
It should be noted that the program of the Russian parliamentarians’ visit to Kazakhstan also included a number of symbolic events. The day before in Almaty, deputies of the two countries planted trees, establishing the «Memory Square», dedicated to the 80th anniversary of Victory, which became a symbol of the continuity of generations and shared memory of heroism. And in Ust-Kamenogorsk, the delegation members laid flowers at the «Victory» memorial complex, honoring the memory of the soldiers.
During the meetings, it was noted that such sessions and mutual visits have become a good tradition, reflecting the high level of trust and strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and Russia. Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached to hold the next, 25th meeting of the commission on the territory of the Russian Federation.
