Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev met with the President of Hungary Tamás Sulyok, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit. The parties discussed current issues of cooperation and outlined the prospects for inter-parliamentary interaction between the countries.

Welcoming the interlocutor, Maulen Ashimbayev focused attention on the busy program of the Head of Hungary's visit to Kazakhstan, which includes participation, together with the country's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, in the International IT-forum Digital Bridge 2025. Such substance, as the Speaker of the Senate noted, reflects the interest of the two fraternal countries in strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Also noted were the trusting political dialogue, strong economic cooperation, and close cultural and humanitarian ties established over three decades of diplomatic relations between Kazakhstan and Hungary.

«Recent years have been very productive for Kazakh-Hungarian cooperation. In this regard, it is important to note the first state visit of the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev, to Budapest last year, following which a Joint Statement was adopted, reflecting the intention of the two countries to further strengthen their strategic partnership and implement joint initiatives, and a number of important agreements in the trade and economic sphere were signed. I am convinced that your visit will consolidate the high dynamics of interstate interaction and cooperation and will enrich the agenda of bilateral relations with new content», – said the Speaker of the Senate in his speech.

According to the parties, inter-parliamentary dialogue plays an important role for the further strengthening of Kazakh-Hungarian cooperation. In this context, an exchange of views on the prospects for strengthening inter-parliamentary ties, including interaction within the framework of friendship groups and inter-parliamentary associations, took place.

«We highly value the established friendly ties between the Parliament of Kazakhstan and the National Assembly of Hungary and are interested in strengthening them. Inter-parliamentary cooperation is also strengthening in a multilateral format, within the parliamentary assemblies of the Council of Europe, the OSCE, as well as the Inter-Parliamentary Union. We highly value our cooperation within the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States, in which Hungary participates as an observer», – said the Speaker of the Senate in his speech.

The interlocutors paid special attention to the agenda of the International Technology Forum «Digital Bridge-2025» – new approaches in the field of information technologies, digitalization, and artificial intelligence, outlining prospects for further cooperation, including in the field of education.

At the same time, issues concerning trade-economic and investment cooperation, deepening of cultural-humanitarian ties were discussed, and opinions were exchanged on the implementation of joint projects in various spheres. The role of the Kazakh-Hungarian Investment Fund for the development of agriculture, the food industry, machine building, transport, energy, as well as infrastructure was also discussed.

Noting the importance of developing spiritual diplomacy, Maulen Ashimbayev also expressed gratitude to Hungary for its active support and significant contribution to achieving the goals of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions.

Tamás Sulyok thanked the Kazakhstani side for the multifaceted cooperation over 30 years and stressed that Kazakhstan and Hungary have mutual interests and similar positions in many spheres. He also expressed interest in the further strengthening of cooperation between the fraternal countries.
