Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbaev met with Metropolitan of Astana and Kazakhstan Alexander.
The speaker of the Senate noted that historically Orthodox Christianity plays a significant role in the spiritual life of Kazakhstan. Members of the Orthodox community actively participate in the public life of the country, make a significant contribution to strengthening the unity of the Kazakh people, interreligious harmony and peace.
The Chairman of the Senate recalled that this year marks the 20th anniversary of the first Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions and stressed that on October 11 of this year, the anniversary meeting of the Secretariat of the Congress is planned to be held in Astana. An important event of the meeting will be the consideration of the Concept for the Development of the Congress for 2023-2033, the work on the draft of which is carried out on behalf of the Head of State.
During the meeting, there was also an exchange of views on the further intensification of spiritual diplomacy and the participation of religious leaders in helping to solve modern problems and challenges.
