Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament Maulen Ashimbaev met with the President of the Republic of Albania Bayram Begay. During the meeting, prospects for further strengthening partnership and expanding inter-parliamentary cooperation were discussed.

The Speaker of the Senate stressed that Albania is one of the important and reliable partners of Kazakhstan in the Balkan region. At the same time, Maulen Ashimbaev focused on the importance of further strengthening cooperation at the inter-parliamentary level, including within the framework of international organizations.

“Interparliamentary ties are an important area of our bilateral relations. Friendship groups with Albania have been created in both Houses of our Parliament. The creation of a similar structure in the Albanian Parliament would help deepen our partnership. We are ready to interact not only in a bilateral format, but also within the framework of international parliamentary organizations, including the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Inter-Parliamentary Union,” Maulen Ashimbaev said.

In addition, during the meeting the parties discussed a wide range of international and regional agendas. Key attention was paid to issues of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation.

The Speaker of the Senate also introduced the President of Albania to the legislative work of the Chamber aimed at implementing the reforms initiated by the Head of State.

In turn, the head of Albania highly appreciated the socio-political transformations being carried out in Kazakhstan and expressed interest in expanding cooperation in all areas.
