Maulen Ashimbayev met with the Swiss Ambassador to Kazakhstan

Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament Maulin Ashimbayev met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Swiss Confederation to Kazakhstan Salman Bahl. The interlocutors discussed issues of further strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

The Speaker of the Senate congratulated Salman Bahl on the start of his mission in Kazakhstan and noted that the Swiss Confederation is one of Kazakhstan’s important political and economic partners in Europe. In this regard, he emphasized the need to intensify inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries within the framework of the activities of international organizations.

«The Parliament of Kazakhstan is interested in developing inter-parliamentary cooperation with Switzerland, which is an important part of bilateral relations. There are friendship groups with the Swiss Parliament in both Chambers of our Parliament. Their potential should be actively used. In this regard, we can exchange visits by delegations of parliamentarians, develop cooperation with Swiss deputies within the framework of international organizations, including the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, the Inter-Parliamentary Union», – said Maulin Ashimbaev.

During the meeting, the Chairman of the Senate also noted that over 30 years of diplomatic relations, Kazakhstan and Switzerland have successfully implemented joint projects and programs of bilateral cooperation in various fields.

At the same time, Maulin Ashimbayev focused his interlocutor’s attention on the results of a large-scale political modernization program being implemented in the country on the initiative of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokaev.

In addition, the Speaker of the Senate noted the importance of developing spiritual diplomacy and expressed gratitude to Switzerland for its active support and significant contribution to achieving the goals of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which is attended by spiritual leaders and heads of international religious organizations.

In turn, the Ambassador highly appreciated the socio-political transformations being carried out in Kazakhstan and expressed interest in further strengthening cooperation between Kazakhstan and Switzerland.
