Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Maulen Ashimbayev met with OSCE Chairman-in-Office, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Zbigniew Rau.
During the conversation, Maulen Ashimbayev spoke about the systemic reforms in the socio-political sphere, which are implemented in Kazakhstan. The Speaker of the Senate noted that the proposed initiatives radically transform the current political system of the country and involves a large-scale constitutional reform.
Also Maulen Ashimbayev dwelt on the main amendments proposed to the Constitution and the significance of the Referendum at the current historical stage of development of the country. The Speaker of the Senate stressed that Kazakhstan intends to hold the Referendum openly and transparently in accordance with the legislation of the country and international norms.
During the meeting it was noted that this year is the 30th anniversary of Kazakhstan's accession to the OSCE. In this regard, the interlocutors also expressed interest in the further development of constructive co-operation, including within the parliamentary dimension.
"The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly has great potential for joint work by parliamentarians to help solve pressing security and co-operation issues throughout the OSCE space. Kazakhstani parliamentarians take part in the Assembly's sessions on a permanent basis. The Senate of Kazakhstan's Parliament is ready for continuing active and constructive co-operation with the OSCE and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly," Maulen Ashimbayev said.
The interlocutors touched upon a number of topical issues of bilateral co-operation between Kazakhstan and Poland and expressed confidence in the strengthening of relations between the countries in the coming period.
