Senators took part in meeting of parliamentarians and foreign ministers of Central Asian countries

Deputies of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Abdaly Nuraliev and Mukhtar Jumagaziev took part in the regular, Sixth Meeting of Parliamentarians and representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Central Asian countries, which is taking place these days in the capital of Kazakhstan. The main purpose of the dialogue was to share experience between the countries of the region on combating the effects of climate change. In particular, the participants of the Meeting discussed in detail the new Environmental Code of Kazakhstan.

The politicians also discussed the issues of further improvement of legislation and implementation of climate policy in Central Asian countries, progress in realization of their climate obligations.

"This Meeting is an important event and will undoubtedly contribute to the improvement of solutions of global problems related to climate change, and will create incentives for further fruitful work, as well as promote further development of equitable international cooperation," said Senator Abdaly Nuraliev in his speech.

Note that the issues of climate change and strengthening cross-sectoral cooperation in the agenda of this dialogue platform were first voiced in 2019. Within the framework of the Program on Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation in the Aral Sea Basin, the Regional Environmental Center of Central Asia supported the proposal of parliamentarians and representatives of the Central Asian Ministries of Foreign Affairs to hold such meetings twice a year
