Chairman of the Committee on International Relations, Defense and Security of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed met with Sergey Rachkov, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs and National Security of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus.
During the conversation Mukhtar Kul-Mukhammed told about the National Referendum aimed at implementing the constitutional reforms and transforming the political system of the country. He stressed that these processes mean the final transition from the super-presidential model to a presidential republic with a strong Parliament, expanding public participation in government, strengthening mechanisms for the protection of citizens' rights, as well as the introduction of other progressive mechanisms to ensure the consistent development of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The interlocutors also discussed in detail the prospects for further development of relations between the two countries.
"Thanks to the political will of the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Belarus, the bilateral relations are developing in a progressive and dynamic way in the spirit of mutual respect and pragmatism. Especially since our countries have many points of convergence, especially in the economy," - said the senator.
In turn, the Chairman of the Standing Committee, Sergei Rachkov, praised the ongoing political reforms in Kazakhstan. He also stressed the importance of strengthening of interparliamentary cooperation, noting that such approach would have a positive impact on strengthening of economic, cultural, humanitarian and other ties. Besides, the Belarusian MP supported the idea of activating contacts between the specialized committees of the two countries' Parliaments.
