Ahead of the Day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Senator Sarsenbai Yensegenov gave an open lesson on "Modern Kazakhstan. Elbasy’s leadership lessons” at Atyrau State University named after Khalel Dosmukhamedov.
The Senator reminded that, ahead of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Independence, a group of Kazakhstani parliamentarians put forward the initiative to declare December 1 a public holiday. Indeed, it was on this day that the First President was elected, and the institution of the presidency of the Republic of Kazakhstan was established, having an undeniable impact on the entire course and development of our statehood.
On this historical day, December 1, 1991, 88.23% of Kazakhstani people took part in the first nation-wide elections of the President of the Republic. Nursultan Nazarbayev was supported by 98.7 percent of voters. The vast majority of Kazakhstani citizens chose peace and harmony, progressive development and democratic reforms.
