The Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan has changed the rules of operation for period of the state of emergency. Deputies and staff of the Senate Office have been moved to remote mode, but the legislative activity of the Chamber continues.

Senator Serik Bekturganov spoke about the specifics of working in the current situation. "The main work is conducted online. Fortunately, digitalization of the entire legislative process allows this. The Senate website has all the draft laws, and it is possible to communicate with those who are involved in the draft law. We work on our profile draft laws, look at the changes that are made, and, as necessary, inform those deputies who are involved in the draft law in the Committee about their questions, comments, proposals," the Deputy said.

In this situation, S. Bekturganov called on citizens to take seriously the recommendations made by state bodies and the rules that have been approved. "First of all, it is necessary to observe the golden mean: do not panic, be reasonable and do not allow a careless attitude to the situation that exists," he stressed.

Members of the Senate and staff of the Office express their gratitude to doctors, employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Emergency Situations, and media representatives who are "on the front line" today. "The most important thing, of course, is their dedication, for which we need thank them. Doctors, volunteers, police officers, journalists – all who work today, thank them very much for the work they do, no matter what. This shows that they are professionals, and their main goal is to help citizens and the state. They are also in this situation for the first time and it is necessary to support them financially, because they are not just working around the clock today and are not at home, but they seriously risk their lives," S. Bekturganov said.
