Senator demands to return the money for allegedly rendered medical services and punish the offenders

Senate Deputy Dana Nurzhigitova is asking the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Healthcare to investigate the situation with “overreporting” for medical services that were not provided and punish those responsible. The senator stated this on her page on social media.

“The Social Health Insurance Fund found 11,607 false records in the amount of almost 75.5 million tenge in the first half of the year only. In the current conditions which are already difficult, this makes us all consider a serious “reboot” of the national healthcare system,” the senator says.

Dana Nurzhigitova demands to immediately identify the true offenders – those who actually made “overreporting”.

“It is required not only to find and punish the offenders (for whom strengthening responsibility has been already requested), but also develop systemic, comprehensive measures. I think, in this situation, ordinary physicians who, as shown by the pandemic, remain as valuable as gold, should not be thrown under the bus. We are expecting concrete proposals from the authorized body to eradicate and prevent such facts in the future”, the senator wrote.

Dana Nurzhigitova stated she would send an official request to the supervisory authority to take action to identify such violations, return money for medical services that were not provided and hold the perpetrators accountable.

In addition, using her deputy seat, the senator will also send a letter to the Ministry of Healthcare requesting to improve the system of payment for medical services, eliminating the “temptations” of overreporting. Dana Nurzhigitova is asking to strengthen departmental control and protect the rights of patients. “We need maximum financial transparency in the activities of the Fund (SHIF) and healthcare organizations,” the senator said.
