A session of the House took place under the chairmanship of Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev.

Deputies adopted the Law “On Ratification of the Protocol to Amend the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union of May 29, 2014, and to Amend and Terminate Certain International Treaties”.

“The Eurasian Economic Union was established on the initiative of the First President - Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev. Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev also gives great attention to cooperation within the EEU. The Eurasian Economic Union is first and foremost aimed at economic development and expanding goods turnover and investment cooperation between our countries. It is our hope that the law adopted this day will facilitate the accomplishment of the above goals,” Maulen Ashimbayev said.

Deputy Sergey Karplyuk clarified the new standards for the distribution of import customs duties between the EEU countries. The Protocol provides for an increase in the standard for the distribution of import customs duties for the Republic of Belarus, as the rate of collectability of customs duties in Belarus exceeds the standard for distribution. At the same time, Kazakhstan will have a favorable balance, provided the current volumes of imports are maintained.

“The Protocol clarifies the provisions on the procedure for monitoring the observance by the authorized agencies of the proper enrollment and distribution of import customs duties, their transfer to the budgets of member states of the Eurasian Economic Union, including issues of information exchange,” - Sergey Karplyuk noted.

A number of requests were also made by senators at the session. Vice-Speaker of the Senate Askar Shakirov and Deputy Lyazzat Suleimen raised the problems of the housing policy implementation. The appeal of Yedil Mamytbekov covers the issues of industrial policy, including the development of the bill “On Industrial Policy”. An inquiry on the situation in near-border settlements was made by Olga Bulavkina.
