20.10.2020 377

Today, an extended session of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation, Judicial System and Law Enforcement Agencies was held in the Senate.

Senators discussed the bill “On Ratification of the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Government of the Republic of Belarus on Cooperation in Migration”.

As part of this agreement, the two countries will start sharing information on the migration of citizens, breaches of migration laws and illegal migration channels, as well as data on the legal status of persons who have grounds to stay within one of the countries.

“According to official statistics, the number of citizens of Belarus entering Kazakhstan in 2019 amounted to about 32 thousand, of which 76 incurred administrative liability. The agreement being considered today is topical; this document outlines the types of information and data sharing, categories of citizens, and also the forms and primary areas of cooperation. The competent authorities for migration in the two countries have been identified. In Kazakhstan, these are the Ministry of Internal Affairs, as well as the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection,” Senator Ryskali Abdikerov said.

The Agreement will raise the effectiveness in protecting the rights of Kazakh citizens on the territory of Belarus in conformity with the laws and international obligations of the two states.
