04.11.2021 401

Today, the House held a meeting chaired by Speaker of the Senate Maulen Ashimbayev, where deputies reviewed and adopted the Law “On Making Amendments and Additions to Some Legislative Acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Combating the Legalization (Laundering) of the Proceeds of Crime and the Financing of Terrorism”. This Law was initiated by deputies of the Parliament.

From now on, the control over financial transactions of public officials will be carried out by law. Previously, they did not belong to the subjects of financial monitoring. Under the document, the list of national public officials will be maintained by the relevant Agency.

Also, the subjects of financial monitoring will include people who are engaged in mining. They now will be required to notify the competent authority in the field of informatization about the start of their activities.

“For the sake of the security of the state and citizens, it is crucial to improve the effectiveness of combating the legalization of proceeds of crime and the financing of terrorism. Therefore, the law adopted today envisages the introduction of additional mechanisms in these norms,” Maulen Ashimbayev said, commenting on the adopted Law.

Also, in the course of the meeting, senators voiced their deputy inquiries.

For instance, Abdaly Nuraliyev spoke of the importance of the intensified study of groundwater resources to solve the problem of shortage of drinking water in the country.

Nariman Turegaliyev touched on the issue of modernization of checkpoints on the Kazakhstan-Russia border.

Akmaral Alnazarova suggested developing a transplant service in Kazakhstan.

And Dana Nurzhigitova emphasized the need to develop a separate bill on patriotic education.
