Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Askar Shakirov met with the newly appointed Secretary-General of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic Speaking States Mehmet Sureyya Er.
The parties welcomed the renaming of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States into the Organization of Turkic Speaking States and the adoption of the Concept Paper “Perspectives of the Turkic World 2040”.
At the meeting, the necessity of intensifying the work of parliamentarians of the TURKPA member states on implementing the main points of the Turkestan Declaration, which are aimed at further deepening cooperation between Turkic states, was noted. They also stressed the importance of approving the proposals of the Kazakhstani side on modernization of TURKPA, particularly on the issues of strengthening the Assembly Secretariat, improving the procedures and regulations, increasing the staff and the budget of the Organization.
The Vice-Speaker of the Senate underlined that participation in the work of this international organization is essential for Kazakhstani parliamentarians.
