23.01.2023 206

A delegation of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, led by Speaker of the House Maulen Ashimbayev, has arrived on an official visit to the Kyrgyz Republic. During the two-day visit, the deputies will take part in the VII Forum of Kazakh-Kyrgyz intellectuals, as well as hold a series of bilateral meetings with the leadership of the country.

Prospects for further strengthening of inter-parliamentary cooperation was one of the main topics of discussion during the meeting of Maulen Ashimbayev with the Chairman of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan Nurlanbek Shakiyev.

"Today, the Kazakh-Kyrgyz relations continue to show high dynamics of development in all spheres. This is largely facilitated by an active and trusting dialogue at the highest level. In March 2021, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Nurgojoyevich Japarov paid a state visit to Kazakhstan. President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev paid an official visit to Kyrgyzstan last May. In addition, the heads of states repeatedly met at other venues in multilateral and bilateral formats. The results of these meetings gave a strong impetus to our interaction across the whole range of bilateral relations," said Maulen Ashimbayev during the meeting.

Taking into account that the Senate of Kazakhstan is the chamber representing the regions of the country, Maulen Ashimbayev particularly focused on the strengthening of inter-regional interaction with the focus on the concrete and practical content of the work.

"The potential for interregional cooperation between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan is huge. We must use it effectively. At the same time, it is important to strengthen ties between the border regions of the two countries. This step will contribute to the development of trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian ties. In addition, the activation of cross-border cooperation will contribute to improving the living standards of the population of border territories. It is proposed to hold meetings of deputies of both countries, including deputies of local representative bodies, on a regular basis in the regions", - said Maulen Ashimbayev.

Also Maulen Ashimbayev emphasized that the work of the deputies of the Senate is consolidated around the solution of regional problems, which is a logical continuation of the Constitutional Reform, initiated by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

In turn, Nurlanbek Shakiev praised the key role of the ongoing large-scale political and economic reforms in Kazakhstan and stressed the importance of progressive development of relations between the two countries. In his speech, he also thanked Maulen Ashimbayev for joint work on building inter-parliamentary cooperation and expressed readiness for the comprehensive expansion of the dialogue.

The interlocutors also discussed parliamentary assistance in trade and economic, social, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres. In particular, it was noted that cooperation in education and science between the two countries is systematically developing. The quota for Kyrgyz citizens studying at universities of Kazakhstan is increasing, and in Bishkek recently opened a branch of the Kazakh National University named after Al-Farabi.

In addition, on this day, the Chairman of the Senate honored the memory of those killed in the tragic events of 1916, as well as laid flowers at the tomb of Chingiz Aitmatov and visited the house-museum of the great writer.
