26.06.2026 1587

The awards ceremony for the Parasat journalist competition took place today in the Senate. Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev congratulated media representatives on the eve of their professional holiday.

The Chairman of the Chamber noted the key role of the media in shaping the news agenda and explaining the essence of the transformations taking place in the country. In an era of geopolitical challenges and the development of AI, he stated, the importance of journalists goes far beyond simply providing information; they serve as a bridge between the government and society.

Maulen Ashimbayev emphasized that the Senate is working to provide legislative support for the reforms initiated by the Head of State. In this regard, close and open engagement between the Chamber and the media is a priority.

"Modern Kazakhstan finds itself at a crucial historical juncture. A new Constitution was adopted in a nationwide referendum initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev. Here, I would like to emphasize the invaluable role of the media. It was thanks to open discussions, analytical publications, and media coverage that each legislative amendment was thoroughly debated and supported by our citizens. Moreover, as the Head of State rightly noted yesterday, media representatives who served on the Constitutional Commission became full co-authors of the Basic Law," said Maulen Ashimbayev, congratulating journalists on their professional holiday.

It's worth noting that 150 applications were received for the Parasat competition this year. The authors included journalists from television channels, radio stations, newspapers, news portals, and regional and international media.
