Today, deputies of the Senate Committee on Social and Cultural Development and Science held a retreat session in the Mangistau region. The event took place as part of preparations for the Parliamentary hearings on “Development of Kazakhstan’s domestic tourism as the need of the hour”.

Chairman of the Committee Murat Baktiyaruly noted that the principal aim of the retreat session was to discuss the prospects of tourism development and preservation of the historical and cultural legacy of the Mangistau region.

“Currently, the country has a state program for the development of tourism for 2019-2025. And its main goal is to form a regulatory framework for increasing the multiplier effect of the tourism industry in the economy of the state. We think that it is important to implement these mechanisms in the tourist regions of the country,” Murat Baktiyaruly said.

Deputy Akim of the Mangistau region delivered a report on the development of domestic tourism. And the representative of the Committee of Tourism Industry of the Ministry of Culture and Sport told about the problems and solutions for the preservation of the historical and cultural legacy.

Senators also discussed relevant problems of tourism development with deputies of the regional and city maslikhats, as well as representatives of tourist organizations, who participated in the meeting.

Moreover, deputies of the Senate took part in laying flowers at the monument to Abish Kekilbayev and familiarized themselves with the work of some tourist enterprises in Aktau.
