Deputies of the Senate Committee on Agrarian Affairs, Nature Management and Rural Development held a visiting session in East Kazakhstan Region, where they discussed problems of development of agricultural entrepreneurship and co-operation, as well as ways to solve them.

At the opening of the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee Ali Bektaev noted that the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pays special attention to the development of agricultural entrepreneurship and co-operation.

"Meanwhile, there are problems in the industry that hinder the development of co-operation and entrepreneurship in this area. In this regard, it is necessary to intensify work on processing and marketing of agricultural products, attracting private investment, as well as use the potential of innovation," - said Senator Ali Bektaev.

Akim of East Kazakhstan Region Danial Akhmetov made a presentation at the session. He told senators that one of the priorities of the Region's development is agro-industrial complex, in particular the co-operation of agricultural producers.

Mr. Yerbol Karashukeyev, Minister of Agriculture, reported on the work being done in this direction across the country. In particular, he spoke about the reasons when agricultural co-operation is ineffective. As a rule, this is caused by low level of trust, interest and awareness of farmers, insufficient material and technical equipment and weak level of capitalization of co-operatives during their establishment period. In this regard, he informed the senators that the Ministry implements a complex of measures of state support to entities of agribusiness.

First Vice-Minister of National Economy Timur Zhaksylykov, First Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration Yerlan Battakov, and Deputy Akim of East Kazakhstan Region Yerzhan Nurbaev also gave their reports during the meeting.

According to the results of the visiting session of the Committee, the participants worked out recommendations, which will be forwarded to the Government for further work on development of agricultural entrepreneurship and co-operation.
